FAQ
Why should I choose GloMatrix?
We launched our red light therapy products because we noticed that most of the panels on the market today are either overpriced or underpowered. We believe that the benefits of red light therapy should be able to be experienced by everyone, not only people who have a lot of money to spend. Our panels are manufactured in an FDA approved facility and are backed by a 2 year warranty. They're high powered in terms of irradiance and low in EMF output, and have cooling fans built in to ensure the device stays cool and safe. Best of all, we don't charge an arm and a leg for our devices because we want to make our devices accessible to more and more people who deserve to experience the benefits of red and near infrared light therapy.
How does red light therapy work?
Red light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that delivers natural wavelengths of light to our bodies. When these specific, concentrated wavelengths of light are absorbed by photoreceptors known as cytochrome c-oxidase on our cells, they stimulate the mitochondria within the cells to create more energy which is used to power all necessary functions in our bodies.
Best of all, red light therapy treatments are quick, convenient and can be done in the comfort of your home and are now more affordable than ever before. In the past, it was thought that red light therapy could only be achieved using high powered, expensive lasers. In recent years, studies have shown that LEDs are every bit as effective as those expensive, inaccessible lasers. As a result, the benefits of red light therapy are easier to experience now than ever before.
Is red light therapy safe? Has it been studied?
Red light therapy has been studied extensively and is proven to be effective by thousands of peer-reviewed medical studies and clinical trials. The studies have shown extremely positive results, and an almost total lack of side effects or health risks associated with it. We encourage our customers to do a search on PubMed for peer-reviewed medical studies and clinical trials regarding red and near infrared light therapy.
How do I figure out the dose that I need?
For skin and topical treatments, the recommended sweet spot of dosing for a given treatment area is roughly between 3 Joules and 10 Joules.
For deeper tissues, such as muscles, ligaments, or bone, the sweet spot for a given treatment area is between 10J and 50J of light.
Generally speaking, our panels deliver at least 5J of light per minute of use from 6 inches away.
If you back up farther away to 12 inches or 18 inches, the amount of time needed in front of the panel may increase but you are also treating a larger area at once.
The formula for calculating Joules is:
J= (Irradiance At A Given Distance) x (Treatment Time in Seconds) x (.001)
Why are your device so affordable relative to competitors?
We believe anyone should have access to the benefits of red and near infrared light therapy. We don't spend exorbitant amounts of money on advertising or celebrity endorsements. Instead, we keep our costs low and pass the savings along to our customers. We also eliminate unnecessary features that artificially drive up cost on the panels.
What is your return policy? What is your warranty?
We offer a full 60 day (2 month) return period, so you get to try your device out at no risk. We don't charge any restocking fees. If you are not happy with your light for some reason, send it back for a full refund. You will need to pay return shipping, since we offer free shipping on the initial order. Please include all accessories that came with the packaging for a full refund.
Our products come with an automatic 2 year warranty. If your device stops working or suffers some sort of mechanical failure within 2 years of your purchase, just reach out to us with your order number and we'll either replace or repair your device free of charge. There is no need to claim your warranty or register your device.
How do I use my device?
Easy! Just plug it in, turn both switches on, and let the red and near infrared light wavelengths shine on your body for somewhere between 2 and 15 minutes, depending on distance from the panel and your specific goals!
What is the EMF output of your devices?
All electric devices have some degree of electromagnetic field, due to the nature of their power source. The EMF output of our devices comes in at 0.0 µT at 6" (which is our recommended minimum treatment distance). This means that at 6" and beyond, you are receiving zero EMF exposure when doing a red light therapy treatment with our device.
Do I need to wear eye protection?
We do recommend wearing eye protection when treating your face, although it may not be necessary. Our devices come with included eye protection goggles.
Why do only half of the LEDs light up? Is my device broken?
The reason you only can see half of the LEDs illuminated is because the near infrared LEDs are outside of the visible spectrum of light for the human eye. So, you won't really be able to see the NIR lights when they're turned on. Most of our panels feature red and near infrared LEDs in a 1:1 ratio, meaning half of the LEDs are red and half are near infrared. You will not be able to see the near infrared, but rest assured they are on and working.
What's the difference between red and near infrared light?
Both red and near infrared light are natural wavelengths of light which come from the sun and have been clinically proven to enhance cellular function.
The main difference is that red light at 660nm only penetrates the body up to a depth of about 5-10mm and may contribute greatly to improved skin health and collagen production. Near infrared light at 850nm is invisible to the human eye and penetrates deeper into the body, between 50mm and 75mm, providing energetic and anti-inflammatory benefits.
We recommend doing treatments with both switches turned on, as the combination is perfect and our irradiance measurements are based upon both wavelengths of light, not just one being turned on.
Can I use my red light therapy device in a sauna?
No, you should not operate your red light therapy device in a sauna. It is too hot for the components of the panel. We recommend either going in the sauna first, and then doing your red light therapy treatment or visa versa.
How often can I do my treatments?
You can do your red light therapy treatment daily. You can even do multiple treatments per day if you'd like.
Will I get a tan from red light therapy?
No, there is no UVA or UVB light (the light that can burn your skin) emitted from our devices. You will NOT get a tan.
Can red light therapy improve the quality of my sleep?
Yes, it can. Red light therapy does not interfere with melatonin production, in fact, it actually promotes melatonin production.
Can I wear make up while doing my treatment?
Yes, you can. It won't hurt anything, however, red and near infrared light therapy works best on clean, bare skin.
Can red light therapy help with arthritis?
Red light therapy can certainly help to reduce pain and swelling in inflamed joints caused by arthritis.
Why does the light seem to change color as my treatment goes on?
This is just your eyes adjusting. You'll notice that when you first turn the lights on they appear very bright red, but as you do your treatment, your eyes adjust and the light will not appear quite as red. Do not worry. The LEDs are only capable of emitting red at 660 nanometers and near infrared at 850 nanometers.
Can your products operate on 220V outside the US?
Yes
